Laser hair removal costs, although high, are comparable or less expensive than electrolysis, waxing and shaving over a long term period. The cost of wax and razors can and will add up over the years. With laser hair removal being semi-permanent (with some maintenance appointments) you could easily save money and the annoyance of daily shaving or pain of waxing.

When checking for prices, there are many manners for which a clinic or practitioner may charge. Be sure to find out ahead of time how they charge and compare various other clinics.

Flat Rate Fee

A clinic may choose to charge a flat rate fee. This could be done a few ways. The first way is the do a total flat fee for a treatment in a certain area, for instance the back. This fee would reflect all the treatments performed or up to a certain number of treatments in this area.

Another way a clinic may charge for laser hair removal is to do a per treatment fee. They would charge you for each treatment done in this certain area, which may be up to seven or eight in large areas.

The flat rate fee may also apply to amount of time; a treatment cost may be calculated for every fifteen minutes or every hour.

Number of Pulses

Another way laser hair removal prices are calculated can be based on the number of pulses used to remove the hair.  A laser can target an area the size of a dime to the size of a quarter depending on the type of laser used for the treatment.  As the treatment is applied the amount of hair will lessen, this will decrease the number of pulses you will need on the following appointments (the first treatment will be more costly than the follow up visits).

Other Pricing Factors

Other factors that may attribute to the cost is the hair density, the region you live in, the type of laser used and the kind of treatment center you go to have the procedure. A dermatologist or a plastic surgeon may be more costly than a clinic that specializes in laser hair removal.

Discounts

Although the initial cost is expensive, there are many ways to get discounts to help with the cost of the treatments.  Check to see if paying up front may result in a lower cost.  Sometimes clinics will offer a “buy ? get 1” type of programs, where you may pay for 5 treatments and get the sixth for free.  If you have a friend that is interested in get the procedure done, check to see if there is a referral discount.

Financing

With the high cost and insurance not covering the procedures you may want to look into financing. The clinic you choose may offer in house payment plans that will spread out the cost over a number of months or possibly years. There are also some credit card companies such as Care Credit and Capitol One Health that will finance these types of procedures.

When searching for prices always keep in mind that you will not want to base your decision totally on the cost of laser hair removal. The most important thing is to get a high quality clinic that will answer any questions and address any concerns you have about laser hair removal. Asking friends or searching for reviews on the clinics may be something to consider before deciding soley on the price.
